Adobe Sync SWF Contest Winner

Recently I entered a contest Adobe was having for a new Sync SWF SDK they’ve developed for their Breeze application. Breeze is a web conferencing application so the contest was asking for flash based add-ons that would help improve the overall collaboration experience. It sounded like a neat idea and it didn’t hurt that they were giving away cash prizes to the winners, the only problem was I didn’t find out about the contest until September 27 and the due date was September 30. Luckily I had recently been thinking about creating a flash based mind mapping application and so I thought it would be the perfect fit for the contest.

Somehow I was able to get it done in time, even though I was literally working on it until the last minute it was due, and the “T1 MindMapper” won first place in the category for team collaboration. The name is sort of boring but it was late and I was tired so that’s all I could come up with. If you want to check out the application, I made an online demo version of it that you can see at the link below:

Try out the T1 MindMapper>

In the real version when used with Breeze, multiple people can add to it at one time, so it would be great for team brainstorming sessions. I didn’t get to add all the features I would have liked to but maybe I’ll get a chance to develop it further later on. They have also posted this entry on the Breeze exchange on Adobe’s website. You can download the actual app fromt he link below:

WOW awesome app. I really have no use for it but it’s a great idea.

isnt there already a company that makes this software? I recall they have been using the “mindmapper” name for at least a couple of years now. Maybe I am mistaken?

It looks like there is a product already called MindMapper. The name was really just something I wrote on the entry form for the contest b/c it needed a title. Since mind mapping is what it does, that was just what I came up with. I’m sure if anyone has issues with it, Adobe could easily change the title.

    Steve,
Very slick and potentially very powerful app. And very easy to use. Much easier than original MindMapper. In the download version is there any way to 1) save maps, 2) email maps, 3) add colors?

If you ever build this out, you will have a real winner.

This is really cool. I’m not sure I have an immediate need for it yet, but I’ll keep it tucked away. Agree that the ability to save maps and print them would be most useful additions.

Very user friendly. Simple but a quick way of capturing ideas. I have used lots of different mindmapping software & this is a very simple but effective one.

Most definitely excellent!!! Liked your SnapPages too and it would be super if the the T1 MindMapper was integrated. Maybe even as a GTD tool (see David Allen’s Mindjet + GTD example http://www.davidco.com/mindmanager/mm_replay.html). Just a suggestion.

    Excellent!
